Immerse Yourself In the Story of a Historic Rochester Hotel

Since 1929, the building now known as The Inn on Broadway has stood as a cornerstone of hospitality in Rochester, NY. Originally constructed as the University Club of Rochester, the Georgian Revival structure was designed by architect Leon Stern and quickly became a gathering place for the city’s social and professional circles. Decades later, its thoughtful restoration has brought new life to the property—preserving its historic hotel elegance while introducing the modern comfort today’s guests expect.

The Story Behind the Brickwork

A Historical Landmark

The building that now houses The Inn on Broadway was originally constructed in 1929 by architect Leon Stern as part of the University Club of Rochester. Designed in the Georgian Revival style, its symmetrical brick façade, tall windows, and carved woodwork reflect the architectural traditions of the early 20th century—when craftsmanship and grandeur were inseparable.

For decades, the University Club served as a private gathering place for Rochester’s professional and civic leaders. Its rooms echoed with conversations, celebrations, and quiet moments alike. Over time, as the city evolved and the building changed hands, the structure remained a cornerstone of East Avenue’s historic streetscape—a silent witness to nearly a century of life in RochesterWedding Brochure 2025.

A New Era of Hospitality

The Inn’s transformation from private club to boutique hotel began with a vision: preserve the building’s classic elegance while creating something more accessible, more personal, and more attuned to today’s traveler.

Original elements—like wood-paneled walls, fireplaces, and leaded-glass accents—remain intact, complemented by thoughtful upgrades and contemporary comforts. Each space was reimagined with care, balancing heritage with hospitality. Today, The Inn offers a setting that feels both timeless and relaxed, with a welcoming atmosphere that invites guests to linger.

Under new ownership and leadership, The Inn has opened its doors wider than ever. What was once known for its formal history now leans into warmth, flexibility, and everyday charm—without compromising on quality.
